Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive procedure using a pen-like device with tiny sterile needles to prick the skin, to effectively treat acne scars, wrinkles, large pores, stretch marks, reduced skin elasticity, and hyperpigmentation.
Microneedling works by creating hundreds of tiny micro-channels in the superficial layers of the skin, inducing an evenly controlled trauma to the skin, resulting in a slight inflammatory response. The body's natural wound healing process signals the release of growth factors and cytokines, which stimulate the production of collagen to repair the treated area. As a result, the skin will heal with more even tone and texture, becoming brighter and firmer with each treatment.
The micro-channels created from microneedling also allow for deeper penetration of your skin care products, improving their effectiveness!
The skin will experience minor redness and irritation for several days after the procedure. While some people have a stronger inflammatory response, most people require little to no downtime at all. Approximately 2 to 3 procedures are usually required to see results for mild skin conditions, and 6 to 8 procedures for more advanced issues, with each treatment spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.
